Ha pasado el tiempo en el cual lo fundamental para ser un buen profesor se centraba en poseer conocimientos teóricos. El mundo actual exige cualidades personales -indispensables para la misión de educador- que van más allá de la simple función de “enseñante”. La labor del docente es esencial a la hora de estimular al alumno en su desarrollo personal y social. Por ello, los profesores y profesoras deben ser conscientes de esta responsabilidad, y tratar de perfeccionarse personal y profesionalmente. Para la autora, el educador más que enseñar, “poliniza” las mentes y las almas. El profesor o profesora que poliniza mentes es aquel que permanece en el recuerdo de sus alumnos, que supo motivarlos, que sirvió de modelo, que inspiró rumbos en muchas vidas, en conclusión: que trabajó “el ser” de cada uno de ellos. Este libro nace del deseo de establecer un diálogo fecundo con los educadores y educadoras que están en contacto con personas en formación.
